Iowa State University transportation engineering graduate students have earned another award.

ISU’s chapter of the Institute for Transportation Engineers (ITE) has been named the 2015 Outstanding Student Chapter by MOVITE, the Missouri Valley Section of ITE. The award is ISU’s third consecutive outstanding student chapter honor from MOVITE, a professional transportation organization in Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

The honor is based on the student chapter’s numerous activities to promote transportation, including volunteering for service projects, scheduling transportation speakers, planning career development events, and attending professional meetings.

The honor was presented at the MOVITE Fall 2015 Meeting, September 23-25, in St. Louis. Also at the meeting, ISU transportation graduate students Georges Bou-Saab and Amrita Goswamy were first and second, respectively, in the best research poster competition.

Iowa State’s Student Transportation Association (TSA) is the parent organization for the ITE student chapter. Bou-Saab is the chapter president.

“TSA brings together a group of diverse, energetic, and bright young people who share their passion for transportation engineering,” says Jing Dong, assistant professor of civil engineering and the TSA and ITE student chapter faculty adviser.

“They worked hard to win many competitions, individually and as a group, and had great fun during various social events. It has been such a rewarding experience for me to work with the cabinet in planning club activities and cheering for their success.”
