About the research

The goal of this project is to study the cause and effect relationship between type of work activity and traffic mobility in a work zone, and to develop traffic flow characteristic curves using real-world traffic flow and work activity data. Better understanding of the causal relationship between work activities and traffic flow will provide ideas of developing approaches to mitigate work zone traffic congestion. Several curve fitting and regression methods will be explored to generate the curves including single-regime and dual-regime methods from the literature.
