About the research

The Road Safety Calculator will serve not only as a practical analysis tool, but also as a method for engaging decision makers in the search for locally appropriate road safety strategies. Thus to be successful, the Road Safety Calculator needs to balance ease-of use-with technical rigor. The InTrans-MUARC team also recognizes that the information technology aspects of the project need to be considered from the outset. This includes, for example, being suitable for use in areas with severe internet bandwidth limitations.

The InTrans-MUARC team has previously conducted extensive research on all of the strategies discussed in the Terms of Reference. The team’s deep familiarity with these 20 topics and ability to leverage existing work are pivotal to delivering the Phase I work on budget, without compromising the technical integrity of the Road Safety Calculator.
