Description
The biennial Mid-Continent Transportation Research Symposium is hosted by Iowa State University’s Institute for Transportation in partnership with the Iowa Department of Transportation. This event usually attracts over 300 transportation researchers and professionals from the Midwest and beyond. The symposium provides an opportunity for participants to network with their peers, learn about advancements and applications in their respective fields, and anticipate future research directions.

Keynote Speaker
Edward Mauser is a Product Lead at Milestone Systems, driving innovative data solutions that enable their partners and end customers.
As an experienced leader, keynote speaker, and executive advisor, he has applied his interdisciplinary strengths for more than 20 years in product development, emerging technologies, and innovation. Edward has supported start-ups, consulting firms, and fortune 50 companies through vision lead co-creation and collaboration initiatives. He has honed these principles over time, from his bachelor’s in Management Information Systems at ISU to his Master’s in Business Administration at Baker University to his on-the-job studies in people and products where he is a lifelong student.
Having deep roots in the fields of Iowa, having experience in and being first on scene at traffic collisions, living in six states, building close friendships with truckers to business owners, being an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and becoming a father, he is passionate about using transportation technology to enable citizens, businesses, and organizations to be safer and more productive while enabling us to live better lives.
Edward currently lives in Denmark and is deeply involved in privacy laws and the ethical and responsible use of technology for human rights.
Featured Speaker
Scott Marler has been the Director of the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) since February 2020. He has worked for the Iowa DOT for 24 years, with experience in traffic operations, ITS, highway project development, regulatory compliance, and the natural environment. Marler has been active in leadership development and workforce planning and has been instrumental in preparing for automated transportation and advanced technologies.
Marler is an active leader with the American Association of State Transportation Officials (AASHTO), where he currently serves on the Board of Directors, as the chair of the Committee on Transportation System Operations, and as a co-chair of the Cooperative Automated Transportation Coalition.
Marler holds a Master of Science degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
