Description
This webinar will provide an overview of the FHWA Road Diet Informational Guide and supporting documents. A road diet is a proven safety countermeasure that can also result in other benefits. This roadway reconfiguration approach generally involves a reduction in vehicle lanes within the roadway cross section and the use of that space in a different manner (e.g., converting a four-lane undivided roadway to two through lanes with a two-way left-turn lane).
Speaker Bio
Keith Knapp is the Director of the Iowa Local Technical Assistance Program. He has been involved with road diets for over 20 years and wrote the original Iowa four- to three-lane conversion guidelines. More recently he was a co-author in the national FHWA Road Diet Informational Guide.
