Description

Of the 5,333 fatal occupational injuries reported in 2019, over 1,000 of those were from the construction industry, the highest figure since 2007. Worker’s on Rural Road Bridge Construction projects are faced with numerous additional hazards that may not be typically encountered during the course of their normal job duties.

For this virtual safety discussion, participants will gain knowledge in some of the leading causes of potential injury to workers on rural road bridge projects. Topics will include fall protection for bridge work in Iowa, taking care of Hi-Vis PPE and work zone signage, the inspection and usage of lift/tow chains, straps and cables and address the improper use of equipment to lift people.
