All About Pavements Inc. (API)

Website: www.allaboutpavements.com

Contact: Wayne Seiler, Ph.D., P.E.
wseiler@allaboutpavements.com

Company Bio: All About Pavements, Inc. (API) is a full service pavement engineering firm dedicated to technical excellence and customer service. API provides pavement engineering services at airports throughout the U.S, including significant airport pavement design and evaluation work that has been completed at large commercial hub and general aviation airports throughout the United States. API’s objective is to provide practical, innovative, and cost effective engineering solutions for our clients.

We are a pavement engineering specialty firm that has been providing services since it was incorporated in Illinois; however, API’s principals have 23 to 42 years of airport pavement engineering experience. API owns two Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWDs) which are calibrated annually using Strategic Highways Research Program (SHRP) criteria in Savoy, IL. Ninety percent of API’s engineering services are provided at airports throughout the United States. Most of these services include pavement management, evaluation, and design. API provides extensive support to airport authorities and transportation firms for pavement design and specification development as part of the bid package preparation. API has its corporate headquarters in Chatham, IL.

In addition to extensive airport pavement design support, API has conducted many initial airport pavement management program (PMP) and has updated several existing PMP systems. This work has included pavement condition index (PCI) surveys; development of state-of-the-art software for use in collecting and uploading pavement distress data into a PMP, such as PAVER; database development, Geographic Information System (GIS) map preparation, and development of the first truly dynamic web-enabled airport PMP in the United States for the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA). The MAA Airport PMP included structural data and analysis results that are similar to the types of data that have been collected at Bellingham International Airport. Additionally, API has recently completed several pavement evaluation and aircraft load capacity analysis projects at commercial hub, reliever, and general aviation airports throughout the United States using FAA AC 150/5335-5C, Standardized Method of Reporting Airport Pavement Strength, and the FAA’s COMFAA 3.0 software.

API participates in the Asphalt Institute (AI) – FAA pavement workshop that is held twice each year in the FAA Regional offices. We have an excellent working relationship with the FAA pavement engineers in Washington, DC. As a result, we work with the FAA to provide innovative and cost effective engineering solutions in pavement design and maintenance. The FAA’s goal is to increase emphasis on pavement preservation and localized repairs because future funding of AIP grants for reconstruction and overlay design cannot meet the current demand for pavement construction.
