Help honor longtime InTrans collaborator James Cable
James (“Jim”) Cable, a Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Associate Professor Emeritus, is widely known for his 30-year career supporting advances in the concrete pavement engineering industry. He worked on more than 20 research and demonstration projects related to concrete overlays and pavement construction as part of his long association with various InTrans research centers. He taught materials engineering at Iowa State from 1986 to 2007 and after his retirement, he continued to work with concrete engineers on projects throughout Iowa.
A fellowship named after Cable has been created to support ISU engineering graduate students working with concrete pavements and particularly overlays. The Dr. James K. Cable Portland Cement Concrete Overlay Scholarship commemorates his research career and his work with state, county, and city engineers, and consultants on pavement construction. The students who receive the annual Cable scholarship will further Dr. Cable’s lifelong efforts in making Portland Cement Concrete overlays a viable alternative in pavement overlay decisions, both in Iowa and nationally.
Your support is needed to continue the good work being carried on by the student recipients of the Cable scholarship. Funding is needed to fully endow the scholarship for the coming years. You can contribute to the Dr. James K. Cable Portland Cement Concrete Overlay Scholarship in one of two ways. To contribute directly to the scholarship fund online, click on the link to the ISU Foundation website. Or, print the attached donation form and return it to the ISU Foundation.
Thank you for your help in continuing Jim Cable’s work.
