Iowa Streets and Roads Workshop and Conference is September 19-21

The 2017 Iowa Streets and Roads Workshop and Annual Conference will be held September 19-21 at the Quality Inn and Suites in Ames.

Organized by the Iowa Local Technical Assistance Program (Iowa LTAP) at Iowa State University, the workshop and conference allow for city and county maintenance supervisors to come together, share ideas, engage in relevant presentations and come away with new insight on practices and management.

During the workshop on Tuesday, September 19, participants can brush up on supervisory skills, including stress management, conflict resolution and implementing change. It also provides opportunities for networking. A tour of the ISU Power Plant is also available on Tuesday.

“I think that the networking and educational opportunities are crucial,” Beth Richards, coordinator for the workshop and conference, said.

The annual conference is Wednesday and Thursday, September 20-21. It includes presentations, roundtable discussions and time to meet with exhibitors and others. There will also be a “mouse traps and gadgets” session where attendees can present innovative techniques and inventions involving roadwork.

Iowa LTAP is one of the transportation-related centers and programs at ISU’s Institute for Transportation.
