Kaleita earns ASABE educational award

Institute for Transportation (InTrans) Faculty Affiliate Amy Kaleita earned the 2022 Massey-Ferguson Educational Gold Medal from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE).

The award, established in 1965, honors those whose dedication to the spirit of learning and teaching in the field of agricultural engineering has advanced with distinction our agricultural knowledge and practice and whose efforts serve as an inspiration to others.

Kaleita, who is also department chair and professor in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department at Iowa State, teaches courses and conducts research in land and water resources engineering and management, modeling, and data analysis. Her courses reach students in agricultural and biosystems engineering, technology, and upper-level undergraduate and graduate studies. Additionally, she routinely creates course content that is very well organized and ready to be adopted by other instructors.

Kaleita is a 24-year member of ASABE and a member of many of its committees, and she was inducted as an ASABE Fellow in 2020. ASABE is an educational and scientific organization dedicated to the advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food, and biological systems. It was founded in 1907 and comprises members in more than 100 countries.

ASABE’s Massey-Ferguson Educational Gold Medal is named for Daniel Massey, a pioneer innovator and agricultural machinery manufacturer, and Harry Ferguson, inventor and ardent exponent of agricultural mechanization, who are both co-founders of Massey-Ferguson, Inc.
