Phares appointed to national bridge committee

Brent Phares, director of the Bridge Engineering Center at Iowa State University, has been appointed a member of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) new Bridge Data Analysis Working Group.

The working group is a standing committee to foster the international exchange of information on bridge performance data analysis. Members will organize and conduct forums semiannually in conjunction with major transportation conferences in the United States and overseas.

Phares also is a research associate professor in the ISU Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department. He has a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from ISU.

The TRB is one of six major divisions of the National Research Council, which is jointly administered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The Bridge Engineering Center is part of ISU’s Institute for Transportation (InTrans).
