John Adam serves as a program manager for CP Tech, which includes managing the Portland Cement Concrete Laboratory in ISU’s Town Engineering building, and he is also an active participant in other programs at the Center. John Adam has worked for the Iowa DOT and for several firms in private industry during his engineering career.
Adam, a 1980 graduate of ISU, obtained a B.S. in Construction Engineering, and is licensed in Iowa as a Civil Engineer. He was Highway Division Director and Chief Engineer for the Iowa Department of Transportation in Ames for six years, after earlier serving as DOT Statewide Operations Bureau Director. Following that stint, he spent several years as Senior Vice President at Knight Engineering. In addition, he was a member of the AASHTO Subcommittee on Highway Traffic Safety, the AASHTO Standing Committee of Highways, and numerous other AASHTO subcommittees throughout his career.
Adam has more than 30 years of experience in the design and delivery of transportation improvement projects. He has often collaborated with project stakeholders and the community to develop the right solutions for transportation challenges.
