Mr. Tritsch is responsible for managing complex projects from proposals through final reporting, and for providing technical support and training related to research-supported advancements in concrete pavement design, construction, and maintenance.
Mr. Tritsch has 35 years of professional experience related to concrete pavement materials and engineering in both the public and private sectors. That experience includes 11 years with the American Concrete Pavement Association, first as executive director of the Missouri/Kansas chapter and then as vice president of the national association. His experience also includes 10 years of progressively responsible positions with the Iowa and Arizona Departments of Transportation, where, among other things, he administered research contracts, worked in quality assurance and materials testing, helped develop statewide pavement management systems, worked on rural and urban roadway design, and developed and presented training. During his 14 plus years in private industry, he provided extensive technical support and training to advance the use of innovative practices and technologies. He serves on the strategic advisory board of the American Concrete Pavement Association and on committees AFD50 and AFN30—Rigid Pavement Design and Durability of Concrete, respectively—of the Transportation Research Board. He is also former chair of TRB’s AFH50 Committee, Concrete Pavement Construction and Rehabilitation.

- Responsible for all chapter activities from budgeting to troubleshooting to presenting educational seminars. Worked with the Kansas and Missouri DOTs, Federal Aviation Administration, Corps of Engineers, and consulting firms. Also served as the technical expert for the Concrete Promotional Group of Kansas City and the Concrete Council of St. Louis.

- Worked primarily in materials and pavement management area. Administered contract research projects: developed problem statements, wrote requests for proposal, reviewed proposals, developed final scope of work and contract specifications, monitored projects under contract for compliance, reviewed reports, and reviewed change orders for approval. Greatly involved with quality assurance and testing of soils and aggregates through the central laboratory.

- Worked closely with department heads, key staff, and the FHWA. Worked on the development of Iowa’s pavement management system. With Iowa State University, prepared and presented pavement management short course for engineers, technicians, and administrators. Responsible for the materials test results reporting system. Experience in rural and urban design: geometric, storm sewer, urban area stage construction, special provision writing, plan and profile layout, and cost estimating, all complying with applicable standards and guidelines. Responsible for ascertaining research needs on low-volume roadways and working with county engineers to help solve their maintenance, design, and construction engineering problems.
