Prestressing of Glulam-Beams
According to initial theoretical considerations it was presumed that the serviceability of glulam beams might be positively influenced by prestressing without reinforcement in a simple method, which causes a distribution of residual stresses increasing the load bearing capacity. An additional aesthetic and economic advantage is obtained by the remaining camber of the composed structural element.
