Span Designs for Constructing Temporary Log-Stringer Bridges in Ontario
The Forest Engineering Research Institute of Canada was approached by the Ontario Bridge Standards Committee in October 1988 to assist in the development of span designs for temporary log-stringer bridges. This report summarizes the design results in the form of graphs that relate allowable span length to stringer mid-diameter and spacing. Span designs were developed for seven common tree species and two common types of bridge decks.
