About the research

The State of Iowa has a rich history in working with regent university researchers to address complex issues, from quantifying operational performance metrics and material qualities to input on draft policy. These actions provide state government with critical, often complex, solutions to support effective decision-making and more predictable outcomes. This research includes all the above with a particular focus on business analytics and predictive capabilities across Iowa’s state government.

This effort will provide a working plan to support the goals of effective governance with predictive outcomes and resiliency. The effort will provide an understanding of current uses and identify opportunities for business and predictive analytics within Iowa’s state government. Sub-objectives include the following:

  • Enhancing systematic and efficient decision making processes regarding State of Iowa services and operations.
  • The ability to share relevant information among state agencies and collaboration efforts. This includes informing agencies about what data is available.
  • This effort should enhance the ability to make data driven decisions.
  • Most importantly, this effort should include guidance toward predictive analytics and decision making to increase the likelihood of desired outcomes and/or prevent undesired outcomes.
