InTrans launches PROSPER to develop next-generation sustainable pavements

This month InTrans took a step toward developing next-generation sustainable highway and airport pavements and introduced the Program for Sustainable Pavement Engineering and Research (PROSPER). The new program will be led by Halil Ceylan,InTrans Pavement Research Engineer and Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE).

Using a multi-disciplinary approach, PROSPER’s research efforts will integrate technologies from different fields to tackle real-world highway and airport pavement infrastructure problems. The program aims for rapid technology and research advancements in pavement analysis and design; sustainable materials; nondestructive testing and evaluation; paving construction technology and project management; and performance monitoring, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation.
