Sturgill earns Early Achievement in Teaching award
Roy Sturgill’s students describe him as having “unmatched commitment” to ensuring they are at the forefront of industry and as “always having an open door.”
These are just a couple of the reasons that the Construction Management and Technology (CMAT) program construction engineer and Iowa State University Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) assistant professor recently earned Iowa State’s Early Achievement in Teaching award.
The award recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding teaching performance unusually early in their professional careers, totaling between two and six years of teaching experience.
In addition to Sturgill’s efforts in the classroom, he also mentors students in the campus chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Students in AGC further praised their advisor by saying he “gives us experiences that will serve us well in our careers” and simply “thank you and stay awesome!”
Sturgill was previously recognized for his teaching achievements, earning the CCEE department’s Elizabeth A. Anderlik Faculty Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2021.
