2022 Traffic and Safety Forum

The purpose of the 2022 Traffic and Safety Forum was to enable traffic and safety engineering professionals to learn about new and innovative systems and processes, share individual experiences, and collectively address issues of interest. The 2022 keynote speaker was Mike Dreznes, former senior vice president at the International Road Federation, who spoke on road safety as the forgotten pandemic.

2022 Municipal Streets Seminar

This event is for public works directors, engineers, street superintendents, maintenance personnel, consultants, city administrators, and elected city officials. Among the 2022 topics were a SUDAS update; project showcases on the University Avenue Reconstruction and West Des Moines Infrastructure for Microsoft Data Centers; and a panel discussion on concrete pavement preservation.Nov. 15, 2022

2022 Iowa Better Concrete Conference

The National Concrete Pavement Technology Center’s (CP Tech Center’s) Iowa Better Concrete Conference held in conjunction with the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Iowa Chapter Annual Meeting and Banquet, included a luncheon to present the Iowa Excellence in Concrete Awards. 2022 Iowa Streets and Roads Workshop and Conference

The Iowa Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) hosts these coinciding annual events for public employees. Each year, the conference includes a slate of several relevant presentations, “mousetraps and gadgets,” roundtable discussions, and opportunities to meet with peers and many exhibitors. The 2022 workshop focused on Community Service and Customer Orientation Skills, with presentations on customer service, public relations, and diversity programs.

2022 Mid-Continent Transportation Research Symposium

The biennial event is hosted by InTrans with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and usually attracts over 300 transportation researchers and professionals from the Midwest and beyond. The symposium provided an opportunity for participants to network with their peers, learn about advancements and applications in their respective fields, and anticipate future research directions. 2022 Local Agency Bridge Innovation and Demonstration Days

The Iowa LTAP, along with the Buchanan County Secondary Roads Department, with funding from the Iowa DOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) hosted this event in Independence, Iowa. ICMPA 2022 – 11th International Conference on Managing Pavement Assets

The conference focused on the role of pavement management in promoting and advancing asset management. Session topics included innovation, data collection, sustainability and resiliency, and risk in pavement management. Workshops and partner meetings also took place.

Bridge Preservation Open House

Buchanan County and the Iowa LTAP hosted an informal one-day discussion and demonstration of some of the bridge preservation techniques the county has used and is exploring. The event included presentations on epoxy injections of bridge decks, bridge deck patching, and bridge deck sealing; a tour of the equipment; and a field demonstration of the epoxy injection.Jul. 27, 2021

Midwest Traffic Incident Management Safety Summit (MTIMSS) 2019

Responders from all disciplines who are focused on transportation emergencies, responder safety and the safe, quick clearance of traffic incidents attended this conference.
